What I like:
I like that there is no mystery mold in the barns or arena. I like that the footing is great and maintained. I like that they feed quality hay purchased from the best hay dealer in Half Moon Bay. I like that if I have a concern, I can discuss it with either owner and they actually listen. I like that there are sprinklers in the barns and that we don't have strangers coming through the facility to feed carrots to the nice horsies. I like that I don't have to give my horses a rabies vaccine. I like that I don't have sick horses sniffing noses with mine. I like that I can go up to the barn twice a day and care for my horses without some yahoo trying to tell me what to do with my horses. I think after owning quality barrel horses for over 20 years and working on the racetrack, I know what I am doing. I like that I know the staff and they know my horses.
What needs improvement:
Replace some bulbs in barns.

What I like:
We have boarded at PPS for over 40 years and take excellent care of our horses as well as horses in training. We are very picky about the welfare of our animals. The current owners feed quality hay from a well known and respected hay dealer; harrow all arenas; provide a secure environment without hikers, strangers going through the barns, etc.; provide sufficient and good footing for everything from barrel racing to jumping; bottom line is that we do not worry about our horses when we are away.
What needs improvement:
Need new gutters on barns.

What I like:
The close proximity to San Francisco. The large covered arena. The driveway is graveled in and can easily accomodate a very large rig turning around. The arena is often empty.
What needs improvement:
Hay quality is generally very poor. Over the years the facility had changed from feeding pelleted feed to various types of hay. The pelleted feed resulted in impaction colic and death of several horses on the property. The "water grass" hay that was purchased in bulk while I had my horses stabled there resulted in severe allergic reactions in many of the horses. Management was not concerned. Stall cleaning is sometimes included in board, sometimes not. Staff changes regularly. They are not generous with the bedding. When cleaning is included it is generally not 7 days a week. The arena is not drug regularly and generally very deep. There are mold issues in the old covered arena and barns that are not openly disclosed to boarders. Stalls do not have paddocks off of them or windows for horses to see out. The "trails" off the property are very steep and dangerous. There is little to no turnout for your horse. There is no real professional or reliable "service" options available for blanketin/unblanketing, graining, etc.

What I like:
The covered arena is kept in great shape, is large and is rarely crowded. Its usually quiet, even on weekends, although you can find people to ride with if you like. The other boarders are friendly. They feed good quality hay and use pellets for bedding, which are great. There are multiple places to turn your horse out (all safe and well-maintained) and easy access off the property to miles of trails. The barns are spacious and well-maintained.
What needs improvement:
Although the guy who feeds and does most of the maintenance is great, the owners are not very organized and you get the sense that they don't pay close attention to what's going on. During the holidays, there is a Christmas tree lot on the property (complete with bonfires, flashing lights and children running between trees) and they allow big rigs to park on the property- neither of which is much fun with a slightly spooky horse.
