What I like:
Please contact ISDA for public records request documents from 2004 to June 2009, regarding the Orphan Acres facility. Specific cases suggested: AC07-0018, AC08-0039, AND AC09-0220.

This facility is in my opinion fraudulently represented to the public on its website at:
http://community.palouse.net/orphanacres/ as a rescue, failing to publicly disclose what appear to be associations with state and federal cloning research programs; my opinion is based on a PRR document which I received, dated September 28, 2006, which states the following:

"Mr. Glover has been willing to work with the University of Idaho and also our company for research purposes. Stallions housed at Orphan Acres have been generously provided for semen collection to study reproductive parameters...."

This to me is cause for concern and full disclosure of the nature of business Orphan Acres is conducting. And I do not know of any legitimate animal welfare organization which houses stallions and actively breeds. This is contraindicated for animal rescue efforts.

Based on ISDA inventory of horses for case No. AC07-0018 and case No. AC09-0220, the majority of "rescued" horses appear to be Arabian breeding stock based on ISDA inventories for both of the above cases.

Orphan Acres was not "established" in 1975, as stated on their website as of the date of this writing on Nov. 7, 2010; the Idaho Secretary of State shows a business filing date of March 29, 2000.

Orphan Acres is not coded as a D20 on Guidestar, as most animal welfare organizations as of the date of this writing. Instead, it is coded as a P20. In addition, its business listing, SIC code, is listed as follows:
http://www.manta.com/c/mmdppzx/orphan-acres-inc

It is my opinion that Orphan Acres may be operating as a contractor for university, state and federal research, and it is my opinion that the grant foundations and general public are likely being defrauded.

Please thoroughly research any animal welfare organization before you consider donating to them or surrendering any animal into their care.

This information is based on my own research and personal experience with Orphan Acres. I filed a complaint with ISDA in March of 2009, case No. AC09-0220.
What needs improvement:
I wish to see the facility closed permanently, and all animals transferred to facilities which are in my opinion operating openly, legitimately, and humanely.
