What I like: Fox Hollow is a wonderful family barn. The horses are loved and well cared for despite what a few have said. I agree with the other poster - negative comments have been left by a few disgruntled teen age boarders who were asked to leave the farm.
Students receive excellent instructors and the barn owner IS a competent rider who simply chooses not to ride so much anymore due to back issues and an overloaded work schedule.
Overall, this is a fun, safe place where the horses are happy and healthy and the kids learn while having fun.
It's unfortunate that those digruntled folks choose to bad mouth a good barn. |
What needs improvement: No place is perfect, yes there are some areas that could use improvement. The barn is not always neat, but a barn that welcomes the children to spend lots of time there rarely is. Buckets do occassionally freeze overnight when heaters get unplugged but all outdoor water tubs have heaters. I know because I was there when they were installed. There is a post and rail field that is constanly being repaired, key issue here is that the fencing is 12 years old and should be in need of repairs. Repairs are made when needed. |

What I like: -kind, experienced trainers
-English and Western lessons available
-Indoor and outdoor Arenas
-good footing
-hot water in wash stall
-good quality lessons horses
-safe trails
-schooling shows held
-local shows travelled to
-family environment
-very experienced manager/owner
-trainers build relationships with students
-beginners are ALWAYS supervised
-more advanced riders are taught to help the more beginner ones creating a friendly cycle
-A variety of ponies and horses from safe, bomb-proof ponies, to green, frisking horses who rider can learn more subtle things on.
-a variety of options to try |
What needs improvement: -cleanliness of stable (not stalls)
-fields need to be rotated better
-some horses who need cribbing collars don't have them
-a few fences have bad quality (only one)
- some horses are ignored when not used, not underfed, and they have blankets, but they are rarely groomed (brood mares in fall/winter, camp horses who are out of work)
-to many kids in the camps
-water troughs freeze over on cold nights sometimes (but are checked and broken every morning)
I will stay at Fox Hollow Farm for a LONG time. Some things could be improved, but it is a wonderful stable. I believe that the negative reviewers are ex-boarders who were asked to leave under negative circumstances that they put themselves in. Fox Hollow really is a great place for riders that are just starting out, or are more advanced. |

What I like: nothing |
What needs improvement: everything - the horses are of terrible quality and in constant poor condition. I agree with said statement above - farm has trouble holding a trainer or boarders because the barn owner is good at burning bridges with clients. |

What I like: They have a great summer camp for kids. |
What needs improvement: This barn could not hold a trainer, at one point the barn owner who doesn't even ride was giving lessons. The lesson horses are of poor quaility, however most of the time they are sore but your supposed to ride them any way. They breed horses that have bad confirmation and no special attributes to create foals that have the same bad qualities. As for boarding, the stalls maybe get mucked once a day but usually not. The horses get
Poor quality hay and care. I left after I realized that not all barns were run as poorly as this one. |
