What I like: Barb gives fantastic care of these horses on the property. When I had only been there for a few months, I received a call that my horse had a swollen eye, and upon arrival and the call of my own vet (she had called the vet the barn uses) she promptly helped load him and ship him to New Bolton for emergency surgery. Afterwards, she took amazing round the clock care to help me with administering his meds. The horses are well cared for, fed free choice hay in the pastures, and quality grain. Not one horse on the property is underweight that I saw. I found the boarders, trainer, and Barb extremely friendly and welcoming when I moved there. |
What needs improvement: The layout is a little odd (being that it's part of the family lumberyard) but the new ring is fantastic and close and easily accessible from the barn. But there's nothing I would improve, other than maybe adding lights to the new ring. |

What I like: Could be a wonderful location between Chester/Mont counties. Nice new outdoor and full jumps. |
What needs improvement: The layout of this facility is extremely abnormal and I imagine any traditional horse person would likely turn around upon happening across this farm; I nearly did. Is this is BARN or LUMBER YARD? Evidently the 'family business' is lumber. It is than a secondary occurrence that the daughter enjoys horses and has managed to shove them into the picture. The main barn is an older bank barn. Typical appearance for this style. Little dark, damp, etc. There is an area within the bank barn for hosing but no wash stall in and of itself. Space is very limited for your supplies. The back area for turnout is directly under huge ugly power lines. The grass provides no nutrition and is mostly shrubs and weeds. The owner/manager is very hard up. Upon our meeting she was very rude but toward the end of my tour she managed to lighten up a bit.
Alison Haus is available for training at this farm. I hear good things about her at least. |
