What I like:
Horses all seem calm, healthy and happy. Pastures are well managed so that there is grass year-round. Hay is good quality. Quiet barn, no drama. Manager expects boarders to follow the rules but is not unreasonable.

Facilities are clean and well-maintained. Nice lounge and bathrooms for boarders and visitors to use. Barn help is courteous, conscientious and kind.

Barn help does bring horses in and takes them out in pairs, but this is not a concern. My previous barn took them in and out by sets of 4 or more. Barn help does know which horses can walk together nicely and there have been no injuries or accidents.

Horses get lots of hours outside and are only left in if it's icy or treacherous. (Previous barn kept horses in for windy conditions too and left them stalled for two days or more at a time). All-in-all the best care around for the price.
What needs improvement:
Haven't seen anything that needs improving as yet. Only drawback is that it gets a bit windy and cold here due to the location downwind of the Blue Ridge.

What I like:
Currently taking lessons with in-house trainer (Lindsay Fox). I have been riding with her for 2 years. Wonderful trainer (talented rider as well). Currently I don't own a horse but I am at the barn enough to say the care is top notch. Horses are well cared for. Fat and happy. Barn employees handle the horses gently. The facility is great. Rings always well drug. No dust in the indoor which is a major perk!

In the past a couple boarders created "drama". I must say... I witnessed some of the incidents. Sue and Lindsay were the professional ones and handled the situation well. The boarders "stirring the pot" have since departed; leaving the barn a wonderful and pleasurable place to be!!!
What needs improvement:
On-site shows would be great.

What I like:
I've never had an issue with the quality of hay provided. To this day im pleased wit it. Yes the jumps are PVC as well as the poles. I'm fairly certain you would have been aware of that prior to moving in. Yes the jumps do blow down... in strong winds most any jump can. However, I am not aware of any of them breaking or shattering. I like lightweight jumps... much easier to move. (Which I do often). Management simply asks that I put them back when I'm done. Its truly that simple. The indoor and outdoor both have jumps year round and management was upfront with me about it. There is an open area to ride dressage though.

To this day I've had no issues with the barn manager, Sue. No issues with her daughter (trainer) either. Both are pleasant. Yes I will agree they are "to the point" but have high standards when it comes to the care of the horses.

The rings have nice footing. Both the outdoor and indoor have great lights. No shadows. Rings are drug often. Pastures are not over grazed. Horses always have hay in their stalls. Hay if needed outside. Fresh clean water. Lots of grain choices. Excellent care provided!!!

Great group of boarders currently. We often socialize away from the barn and attend "non horsey" functions together.

Overall... a pleasure to board there. Highly recommend.
What needs improvement:
Would like access to more trails.

What I like:
The preoperty is beautiful and the barn is open and airy. There is adequate room for tack, feed, etc. The footing is nice in the indoor ring.
What needs improvement:
There is way to much drama at this farm! The owners daughter seems to always have a negative comment about everyone and their horses! The owner herself doesn't have very good people skills and allows her daughter to run the barn and her mouth as she sees fit. Unfortunately if these two did not have anything to do with this barn it would be PERFECT!!! I also do not like that the groom leads multiple horses at a time for turnout. Very unsafe! Also the hay quality is bad and it seems a lot of people are having problems keeping weight on their horses. Overall it's an ok barn in the beginning but you will end up moving on after a few months!

What I like:
The care given is quite good. The stalls are always cleaned at least twice a day, horses are turned out and the people that are at the facility are very nice. Horses are allowed up to 8 quarts of grain/day as part of board and you can have as much hay fed as you like. The rings are drug almost daily. The footing in the indoor is very cushoning with the fiber/sand mix.
What needs improvement:
Jumps in the ring are PVC as are the poles. They blow over in the wind and the plastic poles are dangerous as they shatter quite easily. The boarding agreement states you are allowed to adjust jumps but in reality this is not the case. Jumps are rarely moved and distances are never measured. There is no ring in which to ride dressage as they both have jumps year round. The indoor is very small and always has at least 4 jumps up. Management writes strongly worded "reminder" notes up on the barn board on a daily basis despite boarders compliance with rules. Management can be unfriendly and unprofessional at times. The daughter of the manager is the resident "trainer" and frequently "stirs the pot" creating friction and a negative environment.
